Presentations

There are different types of presentations that everyone makes or uses for various education/business/team requirements. But very few of us utilise the resources available to save time and optimize efforts, and create a beautiful presentation.

Everyone knows we have Microsoft Powerpoint or Google slides to make our presentations right? But do we all know how best we can leverage both the tools at our ready disposal to create innovative thematic presentations? This blog will help you process this. Oh, and I am sure you all are aware of another name for presentations right? For those who are not, they are also addressed as “decks”.

Lets first talk about Microsoft Powerpoint – so it’s the offline presentation creator all of us are used to, right? It offers inbuilt themes and options to design the template as per your requirement. So you could use those to start with but then again the question is what is the core objective to make the ppt? Once we have a clear objective, it gets easier to plan the ppt flow and template design. This is also referred to as offline presentation. You have to save it each time you make a change to ensure everything is saved on time.

The same applies to Google slides as well, I am hopeful most of you know about Google slides, if not, let me take you through that too. Google slides is an online ppt tool available on Google drive if you have a gmail account. The best part about this online ppt maker is all the work you do gets autosaved. All you need is a stable internet connection, a gmail account to sign in, and bam you are ready to design presentations even on your phone! So this is for people who are digitally on the move. The fonts offered and design tools are almost as easy as the traditional Microsoft ppt and there are certain features only available here as this is offered by G-suite. The convenience and comfort gives this an edge, and it saves a lot of space and is easy to share no matter how heavy your file gets with pictures and designs or graphics – all you need is to share the link with your audience to view it. It has access permissions which you can set to view only, edit or comment only access. The best way is however to export it as a pdf and then share that online or offline, but here there might be a tiny check required which is a must whether you are making online or offline ppts – which is Quality and Hygiene check of the alignment and formats you enabled for your presentations – when you download a google slides deck, there is a chance the fonts and alignment can change depending on the system settings. But since a strong check is required this can be managed, its worth it since it is easy sharing and time.

The best part is that google slides can be shared with people and simultaneously enable a team to work on one single ppt, so it saves the time of emailing it over and over for changes and gives you an eye to monitor everything real-time!

Stay tuned for our next post ….spoiler alert —– types of presentations with context.
